Rodney Pickett

February 14, 1965 — December 24, 2025

Albany

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea billows roll;

Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,

It is well, it is well with my soul...

We bow in humble submission to the will of God as this loving family has charged our staff to make known to all that their beloved: Rodney Pickett of Albany, Georgia, answered the master's call and exchanged time for eternity on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

"Reflections of Life"

Rodney Pickett, affectionately called "Hypro" and "Dollar Bill," was born on February 14, 1965, at Terrell County Hospital in Dawson, Georgia, to Strawdie Pickett and Mercie King, Jr.

At an early age, Rodney accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Several years later, after relocating to Thomasville, Georgia after graduation, he continued his walk with God.

Rodney received his education in the public schools of Terrell County and was a proud member of the Terrell High School Class of 1983 in Dawson, Georgia. While in high school, he was a com- mitted and passionate member of the Terrell High Greenwave Marching Band under the leadership of Mr. G. D. Burroughs, where he enthusiastically played the trombone.

His strong work ethic and dedication carried over into his professional life, where he worked diligently for the City of Thomasville, Southern Con- crete, and Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home in Thomasville, Georgia, until his health began to decline.

Rodney never met a stranger. A gentle giant with a heart for helping others, he lived his life boldly yet compassionately. His commanding baritone voice stood in beautiful contrast to his gentle spirit and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the Lord dispatched his angel to Rodney’s bedside and called him home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Sammie and Mattie Walker Pickett; his paternal grandparents, Mercie and Lula King, Sr.; six aunts, Jewel, Sammie, Rushie, Ella, Sherry and Mary; eleven uncles, John Sammie, Jr., Thomas, Roosevelt, Mose Elijah, Mycle, Robert, Clifford, Jimmy, Leroy, Ernest, Anthony; and several cousins.

Rodney leaves to cherish his loving memory to his devoted mother, Strawdie Pickett of Leesburg, Georgia; his father, Mercie (Mary) King of Hartford, Connecticut; loving aunts and uncles, Willie D. Pickett and Judie Pickett of Dawson, Georgia; W. Belle Pickett of Lithonia, Georgia; and Lois Murphy of Leesburg, Georgia; dear friends, Paul Browner, Otis Jones and James “Hog Shawty” Williams and a host of sorrowing cousins and friends.
