Ellen Hawkins

On this solemn day, as the afternoon sun casts its soft glow upon nature's tapestry and the delicate fragrance of roses fills the air, we seek solace in the melodies that echo through the garden. In these tranquil moments, we come to appreciate the profound impact of a life well-lived, as it unfolds like a divine symphony.

We bow in humble submission to the will of God as this loving family has charged our staff to make known to all that their beloved: Ellen Hawkins, answered the master's call and exchanged time for eternity on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Ellen Hawkins was born to her late parents, Elizabeth Pearl Richardson Hawkins and James Hawkins, on April 25, 1941. She was reared in Moultrie, Georgia, where she was educated by the Colquitt County school system. She graduated from the Moultrie High School for Negro Youth, later named William Bryant High School. She departed this life on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Wilson Hospice House, surrounded by family and love.

During her upbringing, she learned several skills, including playing the piano. She loved reading, cooking, and most of all, watching her Westerns on TV. She also enjoyed fishing with her brother, Wesley. She later traveled to New York and pursued a career at Reader's Digest, where she became life-long friends with her co-worker and neighbor, Edna Graham. They enjoyed traveling and went on many vacations to Canada. When she retired, she returned to Moultrie, GA, and worked at a doctor's office, processing billing invoices, until deciding to enjoy retirement. She loved spending time with family and friends, laughing. taking pictures and making memories. She was preceded in death by both parents, and her brother, Wesley Hawkins.

She leaves to mourn her passing: one brother, Donald Jay Hawkins, Sr. and wife Cora, of Albany, Georgia; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Hawkins Thomas of Albany, Georgia; Vangie Lee Hawkins of Albany, Georgia. She was loved and will be missed by 12 nieces and nephews, Wesley Hawkins, Jr., Sheldrick Hawkins (Princesita), Eric Hawkins, Joyce Hawkins, Faye Hawkins, Tangela McCloud, Milton H. Thomas, II (Priscilla), Michael H. Thomas, Carla Hawkins, Donald Hawkins Jr. (Dominique), April Hawkins, and Crystal Hawkins. She also leaves behind a host of great nieces and nephews; as well as other family and friends. Special thanks to her beloved brother, Donald, for always being there for every need until the end, and her loving niece (twin), Carla.
