Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes ~ for those who love with heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation...
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eddie Martin, who fell asleep in death on Friday, December 26, 2025. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whom knew her, but we take comfort in the sure hope of the resurrection promised in John 5:28, 29: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."
"Her Life"
The beautiful life of Eddie Lee Butler-Martiin began on July 28, 1938, in Terrell County. Eddie Lee was the second child to her beloved parents, Samuel, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Butler.
Eddie Lee, as she was affectionately-known, attended the public schools of Terrell County. At an early age, Eddie Lee joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Dawson, GA. After completing school, Eddie Lee married Charles Martin. They resided in Orange, New Jersey.
Friday morning, December 26, 2025, Eddie Lee peacefully went to sleep. As a family, we are deeply saddened by her passing, but we are grateful for the 87 years that we shared with her. Eddie Lee was preceded in death by her loving parents; one son, Benny Roy Butler, one daughter, Cynthia Martin; one brother, Samuel Butler, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Alice Butler Minter.
Eddie leaves to cherish her precious memories: three daughters, Yvonne (Jesse) King of Dawson GA, Celeze (Dennis) Burke, of New Jersey, and Charlene (Arnold) Williams of New Jersey; two sons, David Leon Butler of Albany GA, and Arron Martin of New Jer- sey; one brother, David (Carol) Butler of New Haven, Connecticut; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Butler of Goose Creek, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Orantes, Jemaro (Gloria), Shonna, Xavier, Tara, Olivia, and Leah; four great-grandchildren, Ni- jah, Arlando, Isis, and Ma’Kai; a special friend Josie Renfroe of Dawson GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
